A Lesson on Waiting. (3)

A Thought Adjuster Speaks - Lesson # 22
January 22, 2004.

Today’s lesson, too, is on waiting. So wait before Me and listen to the words I may speak. It is the Stillness which is pregnant with the unspoken words which can only be heard when the inner ear turned into My direction and everything else fades away. It is the paying close attention that picks up the subtle nuances, which are easily detected by a careful and dedicated listener. Such a listener I would have you become towards your brothers and sisters, so you may pick up the nuances of the words they do not speak. You understand, of course, that I am not speaking of the everyday ‘surface talk,’ but the words which are not being said and yet can be felt. I desire for you to develop that ability, that skill, which can hear the cry of the human heart.

There is so much sorrow and grief in the world today, and too few who are willing to listen and become a comforting presence to others without having to speak a word, because there is no need as there is understanding. Such ones are needed in the world today. It matters not if one has a formal education or not. Some are born listeners, but it is also a skill which can be learned with practice, and which includes the necessary waiting to hear out the other before speaking. This waiting is the listening, it is not the formulation of an answer while the other is still speaking. You well understand what I Am saying here, because you have a tendency to ‘jump into’ a conversation because of a thought you had, which triggers the answer to the issue being discussed. Waiting includes holding your thoughts at bay, without any intrusion of your mind.

This is another valuable area of self-discipline towards self-mastery. There are many area’s to practice this skill. It is living life at a deeper level of self-discovery, which is the recognition of areas which can stand improvement. Waiting is a skill, which can be exercised in all area’s of life. It is a needful exercise to learn that all good things come to those who have learned to wait, and can labor and work towards the manifestation of a worthy goal, or a treasured item they desire to have. Waiting teaches value to the thing finally gotten. Learning to wait is a necessary part of life. Life does not exist for instant self-gratification. Even in evolution, creation happens when the time is right as one experiences in the rites of nature in the seasons. It is the endless variety in waiting which brings value to the spice of life.
