A Lesson on Waiting. (4)

A Thought Adjuster Speaks - Lesson # 23
January 23, 2004.

Let today’s lesson be on waiting, also. You know the saying, ‘haste makes waste.’ And so many human plans come to naught, because they do their own will, as the desire for instant gratification is yet too strong. This is an instinctive and animalistic tendency, which needs to be curbed when a child is still very young. It is up to the child’s caregivers to see to it that not every wish is to be granted. Waiting is an art, and the sooner this is taught and understood, whilst reason needs to be given that it is not the right time. Children are very open and reasonable when truth is spoken and explained to them. For adults, it is extremely important to be an example and inspiration to the young ones, so they must see to it, that they themselves have mastered the virtue of waiting and do not indulge in self-gratification, be it in food, drink or in buying goods.

It is a sign of maturity and of self-discipline when one can wait and if the spiritual development has proceeded unabated along with the mental and emotional development, then that mortal is also learning to ‘wait upon the Lord’. In other words, he or she has learned to seek the Father’s Will. Many a human plan has gone, and will go awry, because of this instant gratification and through lack of waiting, so the celestial agencies could put the proper circumstances in place for the human to act upon to his or her greatest satisfaction and soul-contentment into a ripe old age, to look back upon a well-lived and well-spend life, during which the mental, emotional and spiritual systems were able to achieve a harmonious balance, which obviously will help as the foundation upon which to build eternal life.

Far too many people give too little thought as to what the purpose of life is. Too often the thought is entertained, ‘Let us eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we may die.’ And so they live on, not knowing that they have to confront and answer to themselves why they did not make better use of their time. The problem as seen from a celestial viewpoint is that far too many mortals still live in fear and are afraid to wake up and become adventurous enough to travel into the uncharted regions of inner space, and to be more in a present-centered awareness and learn to wait to hear their own Guiding Voice. This is waiting in the most profound sense and the recognition shall surely dawn that it is the greatest joy and privilege to wait upon the Lord of their being -- that Divine Spark of God.
