A Lesson on Preparedness.

Today we will spend a few thoughts on preparedness. Although it is desirable to live in the moment without overmuch worry about the future or the past, it is expedient to be prepared, to make preparations, to make plans as if going on a big trip. What is it that you decide to take, and what is it that can be eliminated, and which otherwise could become a burden too big to carry? Of course it is always wise to travel light, as there will always be a chance of loss. Finally, what is the destination you are planning and preparing for? This is the ultimate question in life, which shall sooner or later need to be answered by every human being. Some are better at planning than are others. Most leave that sort of planning up to their elders, leaders and priests, while still others wake up and start thinking for their selves.

Often this is brought about through some sort of calamity, shock, or through losing a loved one, who is passing to the next stage of existence, as the spirit does not die, whilst only the material temple dies off. Some persons are of a more curious mind, and start these life defining questions at a relatively young age. The latter is of course most ideal, albeit many byways and detours can be encountered through the searching for the highway to the All that Is. It is always amazing and a case for great rejoicing when another light is turned on, on darkened Urantia, for this is when a soul awakens to its true purpose and destiny, although it is alarming to observe that so many lights get dimmer due to the lure and pull of materialism on the planet. However, this is about to change as circumstances force people to seek out the more important things in life, as the glitter and the glamour of the world do not satisfy the soul and are fading in time. Often much regret follows by having lived so thoughtlessly, and having foolishly squandered time.

This then becomes the point of insight and starts the preparation, as stock is taken and a balance is made up about what they have done to serve others. A start can now be made to live with greater consideration for others. The saddest individuals are those who never wake up to the fact that life goes on after mortal dissolution, and that God’s Kingdom was, and is, within them all the time, yet they never bothered to take the time to sit in the Silence in the privacy of their own hearts. Such persons need the most remedial help in the celestial world. They need to come to the realization that God is pure Love, and unconditionally forgiving. And when they have come to their senses, they will then love themselves more and can start out in loving service towards others.

It is this search, while yet in the material existence, which is so important and utterly satisfying to the soul. This seeking and finding is available to all. Those who seek shall find, and this nurturing love can be freely passed on to others, once one has worked through his or her own selfishness and unbelief. Work daily on your personal preparation for the next stage of existence by going within, and strengthening your own God connection. Grow your faith and trust, and therewith let your spirit within come alive and shine forth, through selfless service. This is the preparation for life eternal in learning that service, cooperation, and teamwork bring progress and development for the soul.
