Dowsing: The pendulum is likely to swing in a different fashion for each person.
If you are not clear about a certain way in which it swings, you can ask to be shown another way. This happened
to me with my neutral and with the pendulum remaining quite still, which was not a clear enough answer for me. Also,
if the question that is asked is not clear, or more than one question is asked in the one ‘breath,’ then
the pendulum may start to wobble, so a clarification is needed.
The thumb is the neutral, the index finger is the negative, and the middle finger is the positive. The pendulum
is usually held in the right hand, actually leaving the left hand as the “receiver of the answer.” Of
course, a left-handed person can try the reverse. In the beginning it needs practice, practice, practice, until
you are quite clear about the different ways in which it swings.
I use this method with success when shopping for produce (even for selecting the right medicines). Positive means
that you can eat it, negative means, don’t eat it, or even think about it. Neutral means that it is not going
to harm you, but it is not going to feed you either. It is also very useful to find out about allergies, when you
become more accurate through practice.
Almost anything can be used as a pendulum as long it has adequate weight, and as a rule, the string needs to be
between 4 and 5 inches long. A rough or porous pendulum such as a crystal or wood ought not to be used by other
persons as it takes on that person’s energy, although the use of sea salt, or wiping it down with intent, can
clear this. I prefer a shiny metal pendulum, as it is easier to wipe down with my hands after someone else has used
it. This is much like re-programming it with my own vibrations.
Intent is key to everything in dowsing. One needs to be focused, yet be without a pre-conceived opinion. In other
words, clear the mind of any thoughts about the outcome. This is the hardest thing to do, as we all have expectations.
The pendulum is also not to be used to foretell the future. This is an area that is different altogether, and borders
on superstitious ease.
It is a must, and also good practice, to always ask silently, “May I, or could I ask this next question?”
And always ask for permission when dowsing for another person. Integrity is vital in this work, and one needs to
be of pure intent.
