A Lesson on Meditation.

A Thought Adjuster Speaks - Lesson # 70
October 12, 2004.

Perhaps a few words on meditation would be timely as more and more people enroll in courses on how to meditate. Of course, group meditation is extremely powerful, as the energy generated from this increases exponentially. Individually it is a most worthwhile activity to engage in on a daily basis, and a wonderful habit to acquire. Meditation is so very important to help settle the nervous system to unwind frayed nerves by stilling the thoughts, so calmness can pervade the whole being. It is a craft which at the start can be difficult as the mind can be very unruly and needs to be brought under control. This, of course, is a very important part of self-mastery through the avenue of disciplining the self.

A helpful tool is journaling. Before going into meditation, make sure that you have a quiet place were you will not be disturbed and pen and paper handy just in case you would like to start writing down the inspirations which might appear in your mind. Next would be a prayerful attitude and a waiting until a ‘mantle of calmness’ covers you. This may at first be difficult when the mind is so preoccupied with the anxieties and worries of daily life. However, I dare say, that the more worried one would be, the more one is needful to have these pauses of calmness in one’s daily life, as this truly is the means to keep one’s sanity when everything else is in great turmoil. Meditation can be started with a prayer for help to keep self intruding thoughts at bay, and a thankful attitude about all the blessings received.

There is always something to be thankful for, and this attitude brings you in contact with the God-Spark within. It is helpful to take notice of the intake and output of breath; to become aware of its rhythm. In this manner the mind is occupied with your breathing, and as soon as you notice the start of a ‘grocery list’ of things to be done, bring your mind gently back to your breath. After a while a question you have may come into the foreground. This you can write down, and then wait peacefully for an answer. Don’t forget that prayer could be construed as asking the Creator for something, and meditation is simply waiting for an answer. It is a most wonderful method to daily make the time to listen in the Stillness of your heart to strengthen that God-connection, and at the same time the soul gets recognized by you and nurtured. It is the highest and most important of activities, as the mind gets out of the way, and the relationship to your own God-Spark takes over.

This God Spark goes by various names depending on the particular belief system, but is known on High as the Pilot Light, which lights every normal thinking mortal on the planet. In the beginning of the indwelling of the mortal it is known as the Thought Adjuster and later in the development of the creature as Thought-Controller, when the mortal becomes more spiritually inclined and is beginning an interactive partnership with that Gift from God. This partnership is totally dependent on the freewill of the human being, and never is the mortal coerced or otherwise controlled. This partnership, or Holy alliance with God, is intended to ultimately lead to a fusion between God and human. This can happen at any time during the eternal career. In this way the two become one on the road to perfection on Paradise. A Spark of God therewith attains personality through you, and you attain God-likeness. This is the ultimate crowning of a human being and the highest ideal to strive for.
