Teacher Prolotheos.
Subject: “Kindness is your Strength.”

Received by Valdir Soares.

Prolotheos: “The idea that goodness is equal to weakness, and that evil is stronger than good, still inhabits the minds of many Urantians. That is how many people still see kindness; as weakness. Kindness is not a natural endowment resulting from evolution, rather, it is a learned behavior after a species gains personality status, and from the teachings of the spiritual ministry and administration on the evolutionary worlds. Kindness achieves better results than does rudeness. It is also incorrect to consider kindness to be a strategic tool used to befriend or manage people. It should be a personal choice of living, following the leading of the Spirit Within till it becomes an effortless expression of one’s character. How to exercise kindness without it carrying the mistaken notion that it is a weakness?

“First, think of kindness as a commitment, not an option. Avoid thinking: ‘First I will try being nice, and if it doesn’t work, I will do whatever is necessary.’ You must believe in kindness; that it serves all purposes, fits all situations, and always produces the best results, even if these are not the top priority. If at any time you fail to express it, kindness is still available to you in the form of an apology. Sincere apologies and thorough amends may not undo the wrongs of the past, but they do heal and restore relationships in the present.

“Next, think of kindness as a link in the long cosmic chain of goodness that is now being practiced all over the Universe of Universes. Kindness is not the only virtue you should practice, and you are not the only one who believes in it. The foundation of kindness is love, but its defense against being misunderstood or manipulated is a loving assertiveness of will. Your supreme example of kindness is depicted in Jesus’ life, but notice that he did not hesitate to be unmistakably assertive when necessary. Showing kindness is not being subservient, or being a dull-brain.

“Lastly, think of kindness as one of the best nutrients for the soul. If you want to develop your soul, being kind must be part of your spiritual diet. In the end, being kind is nothing other than applying the Golden Rule: ‘Do unto others as you wish for it to be done to yourself.’ Kindness makes you strong, not weak. It may not be so for people who have forgotten the importance of spiritual values, but it certainly is the fulfillment of the will of God concerning the way you ought to treat others.

“Therefore, my pupil, kindness is a feature of a mature character when it exhibits itself naturally, without pretense or self-righteousness. Do not lose courage if people sometimes ignore, spurn or misunderstand your kindness to signify pity. Arrogance cannot recognize goodness, because it is blinded by pride. Keep on believing in kindness, and keep on practicing it. Acts of kindness are cosmic seeds that never die, for the winds of time will carry them to better soils – a hope for the future. I am Prolotheos, your friend and tutor on High; carry on, my dear.”
