Subject: “Hunger for Truth.”

Thought Adjuster: “Do not be deceived when everything is going well in your life and you confuse the peace you feel with the attributes of a more spiritual life. It is when life brings setbacks and you are forced to look within and reevaluate what you once assumed to be certain, that your faith will grow closer to the Father. Much of what exists in the human being is the product of the confusion and partiality of the environment in which they live. These things must eventually be discarded. When life surprises you with those opportunities to affirm your faith and leave behind what you no longer need, rejoice, for you are taking another step toward your eternal goal.

Generally, when mortals see the places of comfort and security they have built for themselves begin to crumble, their first impulse is to rebuild them and cling to what they already know. Very few can recognize that changes are opportunities to improve, to become something better, and to make their lives an ever more faithful expression of the Father’s will.

Many times, you may feel that even your faith is fading. However, do not assume that faith is what you believe. Faith has little to do with ideologies, dogmas, and traditions. Faith is nothing more than curiosity tinted with hope. As long as the impulse to know and understand God, to find your place in the world, and discover the purpose of your existence exists within you, the faint flame of your faith will have the fuel it needs to remain lit, for it is the Inner Master – the presence of the Father within you – who inspires these longings and does not cease calling the children of God toward their eternal goal.

Truly I tell you, a faith that longs for answers and seeks to understand what it does not know without becoming discouraged is better than a faith filled with concepts, ideals, traditions, and doctrines. The latter is full of obstacles. It is like the man who is hungry and tries to fill his stomach with water. His body will feel full and heavy, but not receiving the nourishment it needs, the hunger will not disappear. Those who have emptied their souls of the illusions, falsehoods, and errors that the world promotes will be better prepared to receive spiritual nourishment and will more clearly know how great their hunger for truth is.

This is the faith of a child, the one the Master spoke of so often. It is the faith of one who accepts how little they know and understands that even the little they believe they know may be relative or possibly mistaken. This is the faith that allows one to correct course and continually adjust their steps to follow the path toward the goal of perfection. This is the faith of true humility, that of those who understand how far they are from the purpose of their life and how much they need help and guidance. These are the fortunate ones, for when help presents itself, they will know how to recognize and benefit from it, while those filled with spiritual pride believe they need nothing, when in reality they lack everything.”
