Thought Adjuster: “A common mistake among human beings is to fall in love with their evolutionary religion and indulge in fantasies about the promises they imagine as rewards for their efforts to follow "the rules" and do what their particular beliefs require of them. They spend so much time dreaming and imagining the things to come that they neglect the present and ignore the opportunities that appear before them each day. Their religion is a religion of escapism, a religion that dreams of a glorious destination without paying attention to the effort required to reach it.
The first thing you must understand is that the true goal of a human being's spiritual progression is to draw closer to God. This approach is gradual and evolutionary. Consider that you cannot truly comprehend, at this moment, what it really means to stand in the personal presence of God—the goal of your efforts. There are no human words or illustrations capable of conveying the sublime and glorious experience of that future moment in your eternal career. There is still a long journey ahead before you can even begin to grasp what this event will be like. Therefore, it is not worthwhile to spend so much time focused on this eternal promise. It is enough to remember it as a source of motivation and inspiration for your daily struggles.
The second factor to consider is that this mortal life is rich with opportunities for spiritual growth and serves as the foundation of your eternal career. Many of the opportunities presented here—especially on a world like this one—will not be found anywhere else, and once your mortal life has ended, you will not be able to return. Focus a little more on the present so that you may keep your "eyes open" to the opportunities that appear before you each day and make the most of them.
How do these opportunities arise? In a world as diverse and dynamic as this one, opportunities to serve your fellow human beings present themselves every day. Those who are parents have the daily privilege of offering loving service to their children, and this is a wonderful opportunity to express the very best within themselves and to become a reflection of the Universal Father for their own children, cooperating with the Father in the task of nurturing souls that will become valuable citizens of the kingdom. Being a human father or mother is a precious opportunity for service and the source of profound lessons and deep revelations about the nature of God, provided that human parents strive to carry out this responsibility in the highest way possible.”
