Thought Adjuster: “The relationship of friendship and trust among the members of a human group always depends on the degree of love existing among the personalities that belong to the group. In a family, the love of the parents for their children and each other is what ensures and makes the relationship possible.
“Many families on your world have established a model of conditional love. As long as others meet their expectations love is given, but as soon as there is a misunderstanding or an imaginary aggresion is perceived, love is witheld. Then the relationship is practically interrupted until both parties decide to resolve the situation.
“This type of human relationship is the reason why so many of you have a hard time with the idea of unconditional love and to imagine how the Father can love all His children equally. Many of you don’t have an intellectual framework or a similar experience in your life which could serve as a starting point to be able to imagine a love truly unconditional, even divine.
“For this reason, the main mission of responsible parents who have awakened to the realities of spirit should be to become a revelation of the Father to their children and their families, in such a way that their children can early start to know about the goodness of God. The higher purpose of the human family is to be a representation of the eternal family, the Father and the Son working in complete harmony to the benefit and growth of their progenie.
“Those who have experienced a high quality love in their lives will be better able to understand their Father in heaven. Human beings do often come to understand the way in which their Father loves them when they themselves become fathers and mothers. Love for a mortal being will manifest in expanding revelations throughout their eternal career, but a deeper understanding while in this life will provide a great advantage for the adventures beyond this world.”

Frank: “Did someone mention white feathers? Did someone mention Cherubim? We are Cherubim! I am Frank and I am a Cherubim. She is Alice and she is a Sanobim. Put the two of us together and we’re Cherubim! It doesn’t make any sense to anyone, except to us.
“We make a lot of . . . sense. We have enormous brains. We have great minds, and we have big mouths to match. We are children of the Creator of Mind and Good Sense. We are thus ideally gifted, and besides, we have been around for many, many years. She and I are psychologists extraordinaire. We are the best there ‘is.’ We will leave any of you human professionals in the dust, and like I said, we have mouths to match as well. We also know each other’s minds and that makes life a little easier. Agreed!
“We can still tell you what is wrong with you people. Give us a few weeks and we can carry on non-stop telling you where you should still drastically improve. Right now in the age of communication, most of you have forgotten how to listen! Right now in the Correcting Time you seem to be in need of more correction day by day! Take your time to think things through. Create some appreciation for yourselves, first of all, because it is only in this sense that you can have any appreciation for another.
“You understand the hierarchy. You know the hierarchy of understanding another, of appreciating the other, of respecting another, of admiring another, and of finally being able to love another. When there is no understanding, the entire deck of cards collapses so easily, so quickly. Exercise a little more patience, exercise a little more trust, and acquire a little more understanding, communicate, and you will find it so easy to get along, to see another’s point of view, to add to the peaceful vibrations that must sooner or later envelop this earth.

Subject; “Towards the Attunement with the Spirit Within.”

Midwayer Thomas: “Communication with your Spirit Within is not an easy accomplishment. Urantians are rather dominated by the material energies — rather than the spiritual ones — due the incomplete upstepping of the first and second bestowals. Besides, the spiritual consciousness on your planet is still very low, although improved after Christ Michael’s Bestowal and the ample distribution of the Spirit of Truth and the Adjusters. Superior spiritual attunement is not only necessary for the satisfactory reception of your Adjuster’s leading as well as the putting in place of those conditions that may make possible the spiritual fusion with Him, even here on Urantia. Upon your request, I will mention three elements that can contribute to reaching this desirable readiness.”
1) Real Purity
“The main obstacle to attaining that communion with your Adjuster is the lack of spiritual commonness as the basis for a good communication. Your Spirit Within’s essence is a pure spirit from the highest quality (Father’s) that may be found in all universes. Your spirituality comes from His ministration to your soul (your morontia self) and from the steadfast determination of your Human Self doing the will of the Father. If your determination in doing the will of the Father is not dominant over your Self, your soul will not mature enough to receive and exercise spiritual control over your life. A spiritual craving for doing the will of God is the first and foremost requisite to actualize spiritual commonness with your Adjuster.”
2) Effective Stillness
“Stillness is that meditative state acquired by the effective subjugation of your thought activity. It helps you to control your thoughts activity by subduing them with spiritual focalization. You have several spiritual sources in and with you; therefore, stillness is your attempt to focus on these spiritual resources (especially the Adjuster) and receive from them spiritual nourishment. By constant practice, you may be able to experience not only that spiritual calmness but also open the spiritual channels that allow you to communicate with beings in extra-physical dimensions: midwayers, morontia teachers (even the spiritual ones), angels and other spirit beings. To some, stillness is easier than it is to others, due to practice as well as to better hereditary strains, that is, those from the Nodite Bestowal and from the Adamic Bestowal.”
3) Actual Implementation
“Consecration (resolve) to do the will of God is essential for a better communication with your Adjuster. But doing the will of God is not only a mental or psychological decision. When the Spirit Within conveys to you the realization of the will of the Father, you ought to do it — follow through. It’s terribly detrimental to your spiritual development to indulge yourself in good decisions and not follow them trough. Let your actions match the perfect leading of the Spirit Within. When this does not happen, the whole situation may become a grievous experience for your Adjuster, that is, to notice that His or Her efforts in spiritualizing you are not being taken seriously.
“Therefore my friend, here they are: three elements that will help you achieve better communication and communion with your Adjuster that lives within your mind. Interestingly, the Adjuster never stops communicating with you, always and ever sending out those leadings that portray to you the will of God. However, even His attempts to impress your consciousness through dreams and visions are most often distorted by your own thought interference. Stillness, supported by consecration and ready execution of the will of the Father will prove to be a better situation for you to realize and apply the spiritual leadings of your Spirit Within and, eventually, to obtain Adjuster attunement. I am your midwayer friend of long ago, Thomas, very happy to attend to your call.”

Subject: “Take The Time To Make The Connection.”

“The Beloved One: “If you desire a greater understanding of matters spiritual, it is desirous that you spend more time alone with Me.
“In the hustle and bustle of life, My Still Small Voice becomes drowned out. Therefore it needs a greater determination on your part to persevere. This is the same as with any other earthly goal. When the pursuits of material goals and pleasures are demanding too much of your time, there is very little, or no time left to cultivate a program of Silence for the restoration of mind, body and soul.
“Think about how many mortals there are that are driven by a little pill; an ‘upper’ to keep going, a ‘downer’ to settle their hyperactivity, a pill to calm their nerves, a pill to go to sleep, perhaps two, because one no longer suffices.
“Face the fact that life can become so stressful, it is hard to unwind, and sundry stress-induced illnesses make their appearance. These create a need for even more pills.
“Truly now, what is wrong with this picture here?
“All you need to do is to set apart some time, making Stillness a daily habit, to seek and cultivate that precious connection with the Guiding Gift from God within and make this a daily habit. It will be the best habit ever and over time result in peace of mind and multiple other benefits that will accrue in your life.
“Coming into the Stillness gives your nerves some much-needed rest, away from the clamor and noises of the world. Once you begin to get the way of this exercise of coming into the Silence, and you have learned to pay attention to your breathing and realize how important this life-giving force is, your nerves will begin to unwind and you feel rested in your mind. That is when you will have mastered a very important step, and everything will unfold from there.
“This, My beloved, is your fount for healing, for insight, and for wisdom. Drink from this well of Living Water. It is always available to you, when you take the time to make the connection.”

Subject: “The Consolation Prizes of Defeat.”

“… but the measure of your human force of character is your ability to resist the holding of grudges and your capacity to withstand brooding in the face of deep sorrow. Defeat is the true mirror in which you may honestly view your real self.” [UB Paper 156, Section 5].
Thought Adjuster: “Let us ponder the above statement made by Jesus to His disciples. It is rich and weighty. Jesus Himself was not spared disappointments and sorrows. The bigger your heart, the more moved it is by compassion and empathy and, in some way, the more vulnerable it becomes. You could say that the depth of your character is directly proportionate to the depth of your heart.
“Jesus exuded both. He did not receive them as ‘freebies’ because He was ‘special’ in the Divine Eyes. He lived as one of you — a man among men — and often voiced that the Father does not favor anyone, as He created all equal. This is the reason why Jesus knew by personal experience whereof He was speaking: His flawless character was brazenly attacked and defamed; His pure intentions and selfless actions were dragged through the mud of ill-intentioned misinterpretations; He felt the deep sorrow triggered by betrayal; He grieved over the loss of dear ones and endured many other grueling challenges.
“He too had to figure out how to proactively respond to them in order to not fall prey to debilitating depression by wallowing in self-pity. He understood that each situation — independently of its positive or negative connotations — presented a growth opportunity. How you deal with success says a lot about yourself: Does it go to your head? Are you tripped by the pitfalls of self-admiration? Or are you merely growing a healthy self-respect and generously sharing your ‘How-To-Be-Successful’ with others? Those are subtle opportunities for character beautification under pleasant case scenarios.
“On the other hand, the school of hard knocks does not treat you with kid gloves but with boxing gloves. It more blatantly challenges your strength or weakness of character by laying everything on the line. Defeats activate the invisible ink of your character traits. What do they reveal? Are they able to scrub away the graffiti of your character flaws and reveal your underlying breathtaking inner fresco? Or do they behave like bullies, brutally tearing away the band-aids you hurriedly applied to the areas of your being in need of TLC or acting like the harsh detergents that remove the carefully-applied coats of makeup that kept you operating in a survival mode of denial?
“When you stare defeat in the eyes, you get a brutally honest personal revelation that may knock the wind out of you, forcing you to your knees. Yet, from this humbling perspective, you become aware of details that were previously hidden to you from the high perch of your ego.
“Dear ones, keep in mind that defeat is not terminal. Rather, view it as a reset button that clearly discloses to you the next phase of your self-beautification project. Aren’t you better off now than when you were oblivious?”
